Philadelphia help!!

Hello everyone.

My mother and myself are coming to Philadelphia beginning of November and besides the main tourist sights and attractions, im looking for some advice from locals about where to eat (im a chef so im really looking forward to eating some amazing food), secrets that only locals know and where you suggest we also go look at and do. In the city for 3 days/4nights. Any bit of advice will be greatly appreciated.

I am also a massive NFL fan, (go broncos) and i am wanting to go to the Eagles vs Cowboys game, can i just buy tickets on the nfl site? Tail gating, can anyone go? I really want to get into the whole festive!!

I am looking at either the Sheraton or the Sonesta as accommodation, so if you have any reviews of them or can suggest somewhere different please feel free!!

Thank you all.

The Dallas game is traditionally the hardest game to get tickets, and your best bet is either the NFL Ticket Exchange or StubHub. Today at 10 AM (EDT) is the official time when single game tickets go on sale, but if previous years are any indication, the few available single game tickets will sell out in about a minute (seriously!).

I have an open invitation for any TA folks and visitors to come to our tailgate, and I've had a couple of Aussies stop by for food, beverages, and a chat. You are certainly welcome to join us if you'd like. We start as early as they let us into the parking lot (something like 7 hours before kickoff?), and we have a great group of friends. I can provide details via PM.

As Steve said, tickets do sell out within moments, but plenty of tickets will be available in the secondary market. They will be priced higher than face value, so you'll have to decide what price is with it to you!

Anyone can tailgate...even people not going to the game!

There’s the Doubletree in Broad Street that might work better. It’s close the the Broad Street Subway that you could use to go to the game and has lots of restaurants on the area. Eagles tickets for the Dallas game is extremely hard as the others guys have indicated. The Cowboys are heated rivals and are not liked in the Philly area and the game is highly anticipated each year. This year, tickets for ALL of the home games will be extremely hard to get since we won the Super Bowl this year. Expect to pay more than a few hundred dollars for ANY seat for ANY game. Tailgating is insane but is a lot of fun. It’s spread out over three rather large parking lots and a large park; each filled to capacity with fans.

For food, there's an incredible amount of choice from high to low.

Definite is Reading Terminal Market.

For nicer upscale dining these are some of my favorites:

For lower end I like these spots:

And there's tons more, check out this site for more ideas

Thank you for you responsives! I truely appreciate it! I knew that game tickets were going to hard to get, but didn’t realise it would be that insane! I’m from Australia and we can’t even fill a football stadium for a grand final let alone a single game! Maybe I’ll be watching it in a bar somewhere!

Jess,

If you can afford it go to the game. The atmosphere inside Lincoln Financial Field will absolutely be memorable as will the pregame tailgating. If you decide you can't join a tailgate first anyway and then right in the middle of the stadium complex you will see http://www.xfinitylive.com/ which offers several places to eat and some enormous televisions for watching the games.

That’s insane! Is that for every ticket for every teams game, or just because these teams have a rivalry?

While Dallas is a long time rival the demand for Eagles Season Tickets is a multi-generational part of the Philadelphia sports scene. It is not uncommon for relatives to inherit season ticket holder packages.

Not only do ticket holders also purchase a 'Seat License" over and above the cost ot the tickets people who want to be on the waiting list for season tickets may purchase a Stadium Builders' License for a chance to purchase should some become available. Most years 99.7% renew their season tickets and there are usually a very limited number of single game tickets that are sold within minutes the day they become available.

This isn't something that's happened after a Super Bowl Championship, Their last NFL Championship was 57 years ago but the games are packed. It's really an experience I'd encourage you to have.

I sit in the top row of section 204 - the nosebleed seats - and I love where I am. If the weather is ugly, I'm under the roof, and being on the top row allows me to stand when I want to without ticking off the people behind me.

I see a pair of tickets in my row currently selling on NFL Ticket Exchange for $167 each. That's not ridiculously bad.
