HI! I'm one of the Kosher people on the forum and I don't eat steak. I'd see if there is a Facebook group that I can ask. I will ask later on my local Facebook group and see what they say!
Prime Grill is generally recognized as the best kosher steak restaurant. Le Marais is also quite popular for it's steak.
Talia's Steakhouse on the Upper West Side is less stuffy and well liked in the neighborhood. I can't personally attest to it as I haven't been there.
I don't eat steak either, but my family likes Le Marais quite a bit.Edited: 19 April 2018, 23:58
Le Marais has gone downhill, unfortunately.
Mike's Bistro isn't a classic steakhouse, but they do have steak and their food is excellent.
Reserve Cut is new, and I haven't been there yet, but it's supposed to be good. Prime Grill is good.
Wolf and Lamb is another that's supposed to be good, but I haven't tried it yet, either.
Prime Grill is very good though not as good as Peter Luger's.If you keep strictly kosher though, that's as good as it gets. We've found the service at Le Marais to be really awful and would not go back there.
Actually I think since our last visit, Prime Grill closed-I just walked by it and it sure looked closed.I guess wolf and Lamb then!
I agree service is awful at Le Marais. My parents take it in stride as service isn’t great at many kosher restaurants. I’ve been to Reserve Cut. I think it’s obscenely expensive for what it is. But it’s always crowded and given the captive audience, they get away w it. Service is a little inattentive also. The room is pretty (virtually no change in design from the previous non-kosher restaurant). If you don’t eat at good Japanese restaurants regularly, you’ll like the sushi.
Thanks to all of you.
I really like Talias, and I was there during pesach. Wolf and Lamb was pretty good, but I preferred Talia’s (food and service). I’ve heard really good things about Abigail’s, but haven’t tried it yet.
I have eaten at Wolf and Lamb which I thought was ok and many years ago at La Marais, which I thought was poor. I think you will find that NYC kosher restaurants are not at the same level as Israeli kosher restaurants. That said there are two kosher restaurants on West 69th that seem popular, Noidue and Noidue Carne. The meat restaurant has several steak choices. Noidue was pretty good, but I haven’t tried Noidue Carne.
