Grand Hyatt VS. Westin St. Francis

I'll be traveling up to San Francisco in April with my family (husband & 2 year old). We've narrowed it down to the Grand Hyatt and the Westin St. Francis. We really can't decide between the two. Grand Hyatt looks newer and cleaner but the St. Francis looks more beautiful and is adjacent to Union Square. Has anyone stayed at both? Or perhaps either? We'd love your candid reviews and recommendations. It would be an added bonus if we're close to self parking 1) to avoid the $50+/day valet fees and 2) because our 2 year old can be difficult to strap into a car seat.

We stay at the Grand Hyatt, and it's just steps to Union Square and the rooms look over it. We fly up from LA, and take a taxi into SF, for about $45, so don't have to deal with the parking garages. The Hyatt offers a Town Car return to the airport for $50 flat fee, which is very nice and roomy.

We like the recently renovated rooms and wonderful beds, usually stay on the Regency Level top floors, and enjoy the breakfast in the concierge lounge. Views of the city are really spectacular. There is a Starbucks across the street, and nice restaurants and shopping all around the area.

I like the St. Francis because it is a classic, iconic California hotel. They do a nice job with their services, and they do have the tower that is newer than the original part of the hotel.

The Grand Hyatt is nice, but you only get so many chances to stay in hotels like the St. Francis.
