I am considering taking a promotion for a job in guam.
How much would a two bedroom be in maute guam. Any other info on the positive and negative aspects would be great. Thank you all so much
Cost of living on Guam is fairly high compared to the US mainland. If you are working for the federal government, they will give you a COLA (cost of living allowance) to compensate. Keep in mind that almost everything is imported, and that's why grocery prices may be more than you see in the mainland. I've been off-island for the last 4 years, so I can't tell you the current market rates for a 2 bedroom apartment in Maite, but here is a useful link: http://www.guampdn.com/guampublishing/special-sections/mailahalom08/home.shtml (Click on "classifieds" to search for rentals.)
On to the positives of a move to Guam: If you love the outdoors, love to travel and to experience new cultures, and are open to new types of foods, Guam can be for you. There are ton of water sports to get into, hiking through jungles to waterfalls or freshwater caves, and living in a place where the beach is about 10 minutes from any point on the island. It's also a great "base" for exploring other countries like Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, etc... There is a fusion of different Asian cultures that most Americans aren't exposed to. And still, you are in a US territory, so there's still an air of the familiar if you get homesick.
For a lot of people, Guam is either a hate it or love it place to live. I would strongly suggest doing more research about the place to see if it might be something that could meld with your personality. A lot of the locals are on "Guam time"--this type of laid back attitude that comes from living on an island where the seasons don't change can be refreshing for some or frustrating for others. Reply to me with any specific questions you might have and I'll try to get you more info if you need it.
2 bedrooms here depending if ur looking for an apartment or home..apartments at 2 bedroom will range from 650 or more..u'll hardly find anything that includes utilities. I hope you like Guam - the cost of living here is pretty high but the beaches, the sun, & the people all compensate for it. It'll be odd if u ever find urself bored here. What company will u be working for and where is it located? maybe i can suggest a few apartments for u.
