Horseback Riding - weight restrictions?

We are planning on a 2 hour horseback trail ride during our August trip. My husband is about 6 feet and 240 lbs - are there weight restrictions for the horseback rides? We are looking at Mill Iron Ranch. Thanks for any input.

1. Re: Horseback Riding - weight restrictions?

We mostly American ride quarter horses here, and 240 pounds is too much for most quarter horses, especially if they're climbing trails. But many ranches have draft horses, or a quarter horse/draft horse mix, that would be able to handle that kind of weight. I'd call Mill Iron and ask them. Speak to Chancey or his wife, Kim. They're real nice people. They may have a horse with some American Belgium or Percheron in him.
