Red Canyon Cody WY mustangs

Where is the best place to view the mustangs in Red Canyon? Looking at the BLM map, there is a tour route highlighted, just wondering in the afternoon in June where they might be seen. Just doing a quick drive through on the way to Cody. My 28 y.o. mustang passed on last year, he was rounded up in Nevada, so I am very interested to be able to see these bands from a distance. Thanks!

One way to see mustangs is to take a tour out of Cody.

Here's an interactive map of areas in Wyoming where you can see mustangs on BLM (federal) land:

Plus where you can see them in the Pryor Mountains:

This site allow you to click on a BLM map of the Red Canyon area with suggested touring route.

Is this the BLM map you're referring to?

imo the best route (with the best roads) is to visit the Wild Mustang Center (see link above) and follow that road north as far as it goes.
