Is Alderbrook near Olympic National Park?
What is near Alderbrook?
It's near the east side of the Park (e.g. Staircase, Duckabush, Dosewallips trails). So I don't think it's a great base for first time visitors but it's a great place to stay for people who've already been to the north and west sides of the park and/or if you really just want to hike and don't care about seeing things like Hurricane Ridge and the rainforest.
It's not really "near" anything except for Hood Canal (which it's on). The closest city would be Bremerton.
Thanks for your help!
Where is the best place to stay on the North and West sides of the park?
Well, "best" partially depends on who's traveling and what your budget is. If you're a couple and you have a pretty high budget, Colette's near Port Angeles is amazing.
There are the park lodges like Lake Crescent and Lake Quinault lodges which work well for both couples and families but are very basic (but in gorgeous locations). They need to be booked months in advance, as a rule.
If you'll be in the area for 3 days or more, renting a vacation house is also a possibility.
