New coast road Perth-Cervantes

Hi

We are travelling to Oz in April and our road trip is from Exmouth down to Perth. I've read somewhere about a new coast road between Perth-Cervantes. We are staying overnight in Cervantes, is the road suitable for 2wd? Also, is it obvious which road it is (mad question, I know!!) or what town should I be heading for to make sure I'm heading back to Perth on the new coast road?

Thanks in advance. First post so excuse me if it's not too clear!

Have a look at www. indianoceandrive.com. You can join the new road much sooner just south of Dongara where it deviates from the Brand Highway and goes all the way through Cervantes to Lancelin. It is a proper sealed road and well signed. The road goes inland at Lancelin and becomes Wanneroo Road which is not a scenic drive but does head towards the city. West Coast Highway doesn't link up with Indian Ocean Drive yet.
