is January a good time to visit/swim? Stingers?

My boyfriend and I recently moved to Perth and we are planning to camp in Cervantes for a couple of nights between the end of Dec and early Jan. We would like to visit the pinnacles and enjoy the beach. However, is it safe to swim in the ocean there at this time of the year? are there deadly stingers in the water at this time of the year (like irukandji)? If so, is there a net on the beach?

Thanks in advance!

Deadly stingers don't come as far south as Cervantes. There may be little stingers, that will depend on the wind direction but they will just be painful not kill you.

No net.

Be careful where you swim. Are you "beach smart"? i.e swim on a patrolled beach if possible and between the flags; be aware of rips; have a focal point on the beach so that you can keep your bearings; don't swim when schools of fish are around; avoid early morning/evening.
