Transport to Koh Chang from Bangkok

Hello, We are planning on travelling with 2 young children. i had 2 questions:

1. I heard that the bus trip to Koh Chang is quite horrific especially with kids. Does anyone know if we can hire a van (we will be a group of 6-8) with a driver so the drive there is less of a problem?

2. I've never been to thailand before. Is Koh Chang going to be too boring for kids or are there still things that we can do with them?

Thanks!

Adi

Have a look at the Top Questions on the right, the first one has lots of suggestions. You can even fly to nearby Trat.

Some more info on getting to Koh Chang by bus: iamkohchang.com/getting-to-koh-chang/timetab… or private transfer: iamkohchang.com/getting-to-koh-chang/private…

The bus isn't horrific - only a few hours with stops on the way. Lots of families do this, but depends on kids and if they are happy to read a book, listen to music, talk with parents for a few hours.

As far as whether it will be too boring for your kids, it depends on where you stay, what time of year you visit and what they are used to. if you holiday regularly in Phuket or say, Kuta, then your kids will probably be bored out of their mind on Koh Chang as it will be way too quiet for them.

If they enjoy elephants, waterfall, snorkelling, diving, playing on the beach, swimming, then they will be fine here - or if they are a bit older 10-12+, then also ATV, Treetop adventure . But there isn't the choice or range of kids activities that you get on busier islands, that's for sure.

Since your kids are young and you haven't been to Thailand before, your kids will love it here. Maybe there are more options in Melbourne, but hey, what do they do there every day, besides going to school or something alike. You can do a whole lot of exploring the island or fooling around a some beach.
