Green River TR

Left Steamboat Spgs at 10:30 AM down Colo 131. Very pretty ride viewing the fall colors. Checked in at the River Terrace Inn about 3 PM and headed over to Green River SP. Great to see everyone at the BBQ. Endless food and beverages as usual. Great start!!!

River Trip in Grays Canyon. Thanks Holiday River Expeditions for an excellent day. Having 85-90 degree day with perfect blue skies didn't hurt either. Paddling a ducky all day? Perfect!! Company was pretty good too. A stellar day on the Green. Dinner at Ray's. Sweet day!

"OK Danny, We need a nice loop hike thru the San Rafael reef. You know... slot canyons, climbs, drops, water... all that good stuff." - "Ding and Dang" - And so ..... just past.. the very busy Little Wild Horse and Bell Canyons, our 7 intrepid adventurers embarked on the journey of Ding and Dang slot canyons. Over boulders, under boulders, thru many a water feature, scrambling up cracks, frictioning down crevices, pushing people up, and finally.. using hands and body parts as foot holds to get down long drops. What a great canyoneering loop. No huge drops to rappel, just lots of challenges to keep the adrenaline flow high. Teaming up on each obstacle kept us moving thru the canyons at a decent steady pace. A very worthy day hike with a great crew. Good choice Danny!! https:/…

Supposed to go to Hanksville and meet-up with the folks from "Into the Wild" to go canyoneering in the Robbers Roost area. Just 5 of us. Weather is a problem, as a huge front is soaking western Utah and slowly creeping east. We are cancelled because of potential flash flood danger and decide to go to Goblin Valley and have lunch in Hanksville. Weather seemed to stay at bay until around dinner time. Better safe than sorry.

More weather early in the AM chases off most of our crew. 9 of us left. 4 of us decide to drive thru the Reef and Swell and take the paved Moore Cutoff Rd to the Rochester Panel. We got lucky and had a mostly blue day, as the clouds seemed to be circling us throughout the day. Nice hike in, although we did wander a bit off path for a while. Rain held off until dinner. Lucky us!!

We say our tearful goodbyes to the few that are left and drive home. Only fitting that the Utah drive was dry going and the Colorado part was pouring. Another successful meet-up. Green River was definitely worthy!! https:/…

Been so busy on the road, only now had time to check this forum for TRS, so now working my way through all of them - but the photos will have to wait till we get home towards the end of the month.

Great read, and so much enjoyed our time with you two, especially our day making it to the R?Rochester panel.
