First time to Nashville considering MetroPlace or GreenHills

We are trying to plan an anniversary weekend in November first timers. Hotel prices are more than we wanted to spend right now. We saw a Fairfield at Metroplace or a hotel in Green Hills. Which area would be nicer or more convenient to downtown Nashville? Thank you. Or any other suggestions. We would like to see some live music and also see some of the sites and try some good food. Thank you !

I will assume you're talking about the Fairfield in Metro Center? If that's the case, it's very close to downtown and much more convenient, also borders Germantown with great restaurants and bars. But Green Hills is a much nicer area, although would not be super convenient to downtown, and the traffic in Green Hills is a nightmare.

Fitz is right. Metro Center is a transition zone between gentrifying Germantown and high crime Bordeaux but it's convenient to downtown via short Ubers/taxis. The Fairfield may even have a shuttle. I don't know.

Green Hills is one of the most upscale areas in Nashville. Rush hour traffic to downtown in the mornings and to Green Hills in the evenings should be avoided, but as a tourist you can usually work around that.

There's also an entry on the right side of this page under "Top questions about Nashville" discussing where to stay. It covers the most popular hotel areas. Green Hills isn't mentioned in that entry because there really aren't many hotels there. It's a good neighborhood though.
