I really like Fort Augustus. It's in a beautiful setting with the Caledonian Canal locks running through the centre of the village. There is a "Nessie" statue and its beautiful down by the edge of the loch because you are right at Loch level with some stunning views. It's all much more upmarket than the centre at Drumnadrochit.
You say you are coming " this Spring"...Have you left your research a bit late?Edited: 28 February 2016, 08:39
I know the area pretty well so any questions at all just ask away and I will try and help out :-)
My family of four will be in Edinburgh for two nights and would like to spend one night in Fort Augustus before we go to Laggan to pick up a boat for 4 days. We don't want to drive. Are there trains? We wondered about a driver so we could stop along the way and see historic sight. Any suggestions?
Macjac, you'll be better starting a new thread with your question. People will see this and reply to the first question rather than yours.
Thank YOU! I will do that. Sorry I am new at this......
