Fort Augustus Scotland

HI there,

My mum-in-law's father came over to Canada from Scotland as a small child. We are making the trek back for her 80th birthday this spring. Turns out he was from Fort Augustus. ANyone familiar with this area?

Thanks so much!

Willow

Sorry, but that's not really a question that can be answered much beyond yes or no

. What specifically do you want to know about Fort Augustus?

I really like Fort Augustus. It's in a beautiful setting with the Caledonian Canal locks running through the centre of the village. There is a "Nessie" statue and its beautiful down by the edge of the loch because you are right at Loch level with some stunning views. It's all much more upmarket than the centre at Drumnadrochit.

My family of four will be in Edinburgh for two nights and would like to spend one night in Fort Augustus before we go to Laggan to pick up a boat for 4 days. We don't want to drive. Are there trains? We wondered about a driver so we could stop along the way and see historic sight. Any suggestions?

Thank YOU!

Macjac, you'll be better starting a new thread with your question. People will see this and reply to the first question rather than yours.

There isn't a train but you could catch a bus. I haven't used them but if looking for a taxi have a look at http://www.greatglentravel.com/
