weekend with teenagers

We are headed to Charleston this weekend. Unfortunately, one day looks like all rain. Any ideas on things to do that can satisfy everyone, including three teenage boys? We thought of Fort Sumter, Yorktown, and Magnolia Plantation for the swamp. Ideas for more or indoor things that we can do on a rainy day? Also, affordable places to eat for a family of 5. Any help is greatly appreciated.

No problem, it happens. They are saying rain Sunday, but that could change, sometimes our weather reports change hourly!

The Aquarium is good, albeit pricey.

How about the Hunley (Civil War submarine, on display in N. CHS).

Forget Ft. Sumter, unless you are die-hard Civil War buffs. Ft. Moultrie is much easier, out on Sullivan's Island, very nice visitor center. Lunch or dinner at Poe's.

There won't be much at Magnolia, this time of year, we've had such cold weather, the camellias are more than likely all burned up.

Don't know what you consider "affordable", different for everyone. Fleet Landing is a popular family restaurant in the Historic District, do make reservations. There are any number of BBQ places, in and around the HD (Rodney Scott and Lewis are both good). Jestine's is popular with visitors, just get there by 5:00, otherwise there will be a line, waiting outside.

We all loved Patriot's Point on our visit. A lot of the exhibits are inside the carrier so you wouldn't have to worry about the rain. To see how the soldiers lived on the ship and the various aircraft was fascinating. There is also a smaller ship to tour, along with a submarine and the Vietnam experience (this is outdoors) but we spent hours there . Even the cafeteria on board was pretty good.
