Most of us who live in Charleston will tell you that's not great location. Read the reviews to decide whether it's worth it.

The best area to stay is always the most expensive area. How much are you comfortable paying? Will you have a car? will you be willing to drive to some destinations. I guess if I had to pick our favorite hotel and location over three decades it would be the Mills House, a couple of blocks from the Market Street tourist zoo, but close to everything.

No car, you definitely do not want to stay at the Hyatt. It's not really in the HD, it's a mile from where you will want to be.

Mills House is a good suggestion, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites are all good. There is a Days Inn, which is pretty bare bones and the older Francis Marion, which is in desperate need of a re-do, but well located.

The Hyatt is also on the edge of a not so nice area, besides being a mile from the "heart" of the historic district. Another mile from there to the Battery/harbor area.

Look at Travelzoo and see if there are any deals for your dates.

Might want to ask us about location, before you book.
