Belongil Beach at Byron Bay has a section that is a legal free beach. Nude sun baking and skinny dipping is permitted all year.
Each month the local nudist group organise a small beach picnic that involves beach games such as cricket and races. Visitors and tourists are welcome anytime. Photography is usually frowned upon.
Organised nudist events on the 3rd Sunday of each month at the beach. Look for the yellow Free Beach A ssociation flag on the beach near the entry from the carpark.
Access to the beach is easy. Turn off the Pacific Hwy into Grays Lane at Tyagarah (about 2 km north of the Byron Bay exit). Follow the road right to the beach carpark in Tyagarah Nature Reserve. A parking fee of $7 per day applies - or get an annual pass (which allows you to visit as often as you like) for about $20 from National Park & Wildlife service
