Glasgow to St. Just Penwith

Can anyone help? My daughter (over 20) and I have a two together railcard, we want to travel from Glasgow Central rail station to St. Just in September for a weeks holiday, what would be the best and quickest way to get there? totally confused with all the web site info!

Many Thanks

Lyn

Train will take ten to eleven hours to Penzance.

You could fly to Newquay hire a car, probably not cost much more, if that is an option.

Or taxi from Newquay.

Believe it or not, there is a direct train from Glasgow Central to Penzance (the nearest station), it takes twelve hours though! There are also other options on the same route, usually with a change at Birmingham New Street and/or Plymouth

For the two of you using a Two Together railcard, it would cost from £148.50 each way using Advance singles (so from £297 return). Or you can get two more flexible(and refundable) off-peak returns for a total of £311.00 - these are valid for any train after 09.30 (any time Saturday or Sunday).

Bookings are currently available up to mid-September. Book directly with Cross Country Trains.

That's a mammoth train journey, as long as you know that, otherwise I would def fly which is what we do if going to Scotland.

You will really need a car if staying in St Just anyway as the buses aren't that frequent. Penzance would be a better place to stay if you do come by train and don't hire a car.

Your title says St Just Penwith, but you have posted in the Roseland forum. Which do you want - St Just in Roseland or St Just in Penwith? They are different places, miles apart, with different transport possibilities.

You could do the train via London, particularly if the cheaper Cross country tickets sell out. You could even get the sleeper from London - Truro (for at just in roseland) or to Penzance for St just in penwith.

Would agree that Penzance would be a better Base than St just (penwith) if you don't have a car although there are fairly frequent buses between the two.

Hiring a car for a few days would allow you to visit some of the places impossible to access by public transport.
