Coming from Belgium

Hi !

I'm planning a trip to oregon mainly to see and visit columbia river.

I have to take the plane but what is the cheap way to do this ?

Take a flight from Belgium to New-York and then take a flight with a local company to Portland ?

Thanks a lot for your response !

dont know what you mean by local company to fly from nyc to portland unless you mean a domestic airline

a car rental would be the best way to get from portland to the gorge-- how long are you planning to stay and where

thats a long trip just to see the river

If you are checking flight information, I checked and a few flights go into Las Vegas then here. Condor Airlines has a few. Yikes, it will be expensive I agree.

I think you will sure enjoy the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.

What month do you anticipate coming over?

I agree with Lougee you will be needing a car.

It may not be the cheapest, but Delta Airlines has a direct flight from Amsterdam to Portland.

We were planning a trip to Europe, and that Portland to Amsterdam flight came up often as a reasonable cost alternative. Trips we have taken to Europe have not gone through NYC. Seattle has more direct flights from Europe. still planning, but postponed. going to Hawaii instead

Hello and welcome to TripAdvisor, amaurydg. This website will give you lots of price options:

http://www.kayak.com/

Check into flying direct to Seattle as there are many more flights there than Portland. It is about 3-4 hours from Portland. Also look at travelling to London Heathrow then flying direct from there, as well as the Amsterdam - Portland flight mentioned above.

Usually flights mid week are cheaper.

New York is about 2,500 miles from Portland ... about 4,000 km!

We fly a lot and I always check fares on www.itasoftware.com as a starting place. You cannot book from that site, but it will give you all the flights and you can then book directly with the airline. I know some people like to book through third party sites, such as Travelocity, etc but I don't do that so can't help with that.

Hi,

Are you with Amaurydg?

It sounds like a long trip tome, but I am sure you will enjoy yourself.

If you are with the poster, let us know what else we can help you with. If you are not, you may have better luck starting your own thread if you need any help.

It was was busy at Multnomah Falls today, we had some visitors from Brussels. They seemed to really enjoy the Gorge.

The one guy wanted to know if I knew of any good wineries and I asked him if he liked Italian wine, and he said, No! Chianti!

funny to me, the winery I go to doesn't have Chianti and I have Never seen it on his list. Oh Well, they were a great couple.

It won't be as warm then as, say., July. June is pretty good. We rent a cabin in June in Mount Hood. But I am sure you will have a good time whatever you choose..
