Lunch stop needed!

Can anyone recommend a good place for a late lunch for me and my friend (both 29). We will be visiting Alnwick Gardens on Saturday and we were planning to have lunch in the treehouse there but found out its closed all day!

We have previously been to the Running Fox in Felton so would like to go somewhere similar. Probably about £20pp

We don't mind travelling away from Alnwick to other places near by

Maybe the Old Boat House at Amble.

Or the Jolly Fisherman at Craster.

Not sure if these will be too far away. Agree that the café at Barter Books is nice but it's a snack sort of place (sandwiches, burgers etc). They do excellent bowls of chips though!

Another possibility would be the White Swan in Alnwick itself, just behind the gardens exit. The dining room there is the re-used dining saloon of the SS OLympic, saved when she was broken up, sister ship to the Titanic.

Not always open at lunchtime, I believe.
