Advice Please On Golden Sands resort

Hi all,

Last summer we spent 2 weeks in Sunny beach and really enjoyed it. We are wanting to go back to Bulgaria but try Golden Sands this year. Could anybody please tell me if it is similar to Sunny beach, are there many bars and restaurants to eat at like in Sunny beach?

Any repled appreciated,

Thanks x

We have visited Golden Sands many times and love it there - personally much prefer it to Sunny Beach (we are a different age group from you). Its a lot smaller than Sunny beach and quite a lot of the hotels are uphill. The beaches are beautiful. There is a street called Party Street which is very lively -thats where Bonkers disco is.

Theres lots of bars and nice restaurants. Up the back of the resort you have the Aquapolis waterpark. Theres a couple of mini trains that run around the resort. You can easily get into Varna or Albena by bus.

Think if you read up some of the reviews before you decide. I would check first tho that you can get a flight into Varna for Golden Sands. The other airport is Bourgas and this would mean a bus tranfer of around 2-3 hours to get to Golden Sands.

Look at the Balkan Holidays brochure. They have a good choice of hotels etc.

Hope this helps a little.

We stayed in Golden Sands last year and although our Hotel was a bit far out, the resort was lovely. Lots of different restaurants with plenty of choice. If you want a good steak, go to Angels steak bar. Plenty of restaurants along the sea front but you will pay more there.

Agree about the airport. We had to fly to Bourgas and endure the 2 hour journey to Golden Sands, with a stop off on the way at 2.30am for 20 minutes!!!

We did try to get a bus to Albena, but they don't run them anymore. We did get a taxi instead but do agree a price before you get in.

we too loved sunny beach, and are now trying golden sands, go for it, by the sounds of it we are quite far back and up hill (hotel aphrodite), but we cant wait, we are all inclusive, but thats as it was the cheapest deal, we are still going to eat out as i am fussy, but will enjoy the drinks! ha get booking and enjoy, what i notice on here is not many people have much to say about golden sands..... so come out of the woodwork all you experts :)

Along Party Street, near the back, find Hotel Pliska and it is basically next door, opposite one of the street kebab stalls. Last year, there was a parrot in a cage outside.

Hope you find it, because it is well worth it.
