Condos at east end of Island

We are looking at staying at the Sand Dwellers condos at the east end of the Island, anyone stay there before? We are planning on the end of June, wondering how busy it is then also.

The east end of the beach is narrow. I would check out something on the west end. We have stayed at the Ocean Isle Inn for years now and the beach in front is very wide and flat.

I have been there in July and August and have never experienced crowds.

Must agree with sueleay. The West end of the beach is much better. The Islander Inn is right next door to the Ocean Isle Inn, with the same sort of format, should the OI Inn not be available. A great family beach; not too crowded. Enjoy!

Hi Uprocks, We own a house on the east end of the island, so maybe I can give you a slightly different perspective on the condos and area you are considering.

We've been going to OIB for 20 years and it is true that both ends of the island are eroding. The renourishment of the island has made a huge difference in the width of the beach. The condos you are considering are older units, not sure what the interiors look like. Some units are on a section of the beach that is very narrow at high tide....a few neighboring houses are nearly in the ocean.

A key to the east end of the island is the very wide point as the ocean and inlet meet. There is a very wide and very nice beach section that is great. At low tide, we jog the length of the island east to west and have no issues with the beach being too narrow at any point. Another plus is the low number of folks on the beach at the far ends of the island. If you choose a place like The Islander or Ocean Isle Inn, you'll be right beside the pier at mid-island where the causeway meets the island. There are MANY people on the beach at that location and in June/July/August, you'll have competition for a place to put your umbrella.

OIB is a fantastic beach, you'll have a great time!

Thanks for the great info. We stayed at Ocean Isle Beach Inn in Sept of 2010 and it was great, but we knew it would be more crowded in June, plus we needed space and cooking facilities for our family. We are looking forward to our stay, our grandson is only 5 and loves to fish so we thought being at that end he could fish in the inlet. Any other info you have would be welcome, appreciate your time
