Best route to Duck, NC from NY

We have rented a home in Duck the third week in August, and will be traveling from NY. Our arrival day is Sunday, but we plan on leaving Saturday afternoon (stopping overnight on the way). Would it be better to travel through PA via 81 (going through Maryland/Virginua) or via 476 (going through Delaware)? It appears that the Delaware route is shorter time wise (via Google Map). As we are arriving on a Sunday, will the traffic still be quite heavy during the day? Thank you for your assistance!

Via Delaware. We go down to the Outer Banks from Jersey every year or so and we gave up on other routes a few years back. We try to book an early arrival (1:00PM) whenever possible, get up really early and try to hit the banks by noon. Sunday is way better than Saturdays. Avoid 95 at all costs.

use Waze on your mobile phone, it will find the best route for you and adjust your route in real-time based on traffic conditions. We used it on our trip home from Corolla this past Sunday and it kept us off of I-95 for most of our trip.
