Exmouth or Coral Bay?

Am planning on visiting Exmouth and/or Coral Bay in early April with my husband and kids (5yrs and 9 mths). Not sure whether to book accommodation in Exmouth or in Coral Bay. We're looking for a relaxing beach holiday with snorkelling and swimming. We're flying and will be there 6 nights. Also, if we stay in Coral Bay is there any need to hire a car? Any advice on activities that we can do with the kids and that the older one would enjoy would also be appreciated.

Coral Bay would suit your needs.

For info on CB click on below.

No, you don't need a car if you just want to relax and chill out by the beach and do some snorkeling etc.etc.

If you want to explore more of the region like Cape Range National Park which is situated 40 kilometres from Exmouth then a car is advisable.

All cars can be hired from the airport but bookings are advisable to avoid disappointment.

If you are visiting in or around Easter (Good Friday is the 10th April), I would book accommodation now.

You can get transport to Coral bay from Exmouth on a shuttle bus service, whilst in Coral Bay you will not need a car as previuosly mentioned as the Bay is within strolling distance of all accommodation. you can do a quad bike tour, glass bottom boat, hire kayaks etc and of course snorkel from the beach or take a dive trip. Whakesharks should also be present for you to have a swim with, an amazing experience if you can afford.

If staying in Exmouth you will need a hire car to get to the National Park nad enjoy snorkelling etc.

I think CB would suit you more expecially with a small one, the Bay is very safe for your 5 yo to be able to run and play within sight of you.

Take a sunshade for the beach as shade is limited.

Cheers

I lived in Exmouth for three years it is beautiful. All of the beaches from Exmouth to Coral bay are breathtaking. As far as relaxing goes Exmouth has you covered and having your 5 yr old explore the tide pools would be fascinating. coral bay has the world class snorkeling and glass bottom boat tours where you actally get to see everything. good luck on whatever you choose.

What is snorkeling like in Coral Bay and Exmouth in December? Is it still nice?

Snorkeling is great in december but water will be colder than april. No whalesharks in december. In Coral Bay are some shady places under the bushes/trees on 30 meters from the shallow waters. We only used the car to make daytrips to Exmouth and Cape Range and definitely make a reservation at the Ningaloo Reef resort. Coral Bay is paradise. You can hire or buy goggles in Coral Bay and also our beachumbrella came handy. Fins Cafe for lunches and seafood.

We visited Coral Bay in Feb and it was perfect weather.

Head straight to Coral Bay.

Tet,

What exactly does "cold" mean for the water? How cold are we talking?

Colder than the Gulf and warmer than the Pacific at the West coast in summer. DW loved it, I prefered the Broome temps.

The southern Hemishpere is opposite us therefore the hottest months are in dec jan and feb. As far as the waters go I NEVER experienced cold water. It was always like bath water. Heat this time of year is a bit much but thats why you go somewhere warm isn't it?

G'day BQ

After your last forum post you said you didn't want to drive 14hrs with kids in the car. Are you know flying?
