Agia Efimia

Hello

Hoping Bob, or someone with similar local knowledge can help us out. My boyfriend and I are looking at booking a lovely apartment in Agia Efimia in April (I'm a teacher - it's our Easter break) for a last holiday before becoming parents (gulp). We both love walking (not hard core), flowers, birds, the sea, good food and it seems like this part of the island would be good for exploring. We are a little worried that the place might be like a ghost town? With bars and restaurants closed because it is out of season. Also, would you recommend hire of a car to explore? We are only there for 4 days. Thank you! Sally

Hi Sally and welcome,

The Greek Easter is a week later than the UK this year. That is a great weekend to be in Agia Efimia, or anywhere on the island to be honest. Spring is a great time for seeing wild flowers and birds.

Even if all the taverns are not open there will be two or three and the cafe/bars ready to serve you.

I would recommend renting a car as it will be cheap at Easter and will save you a 55€ each way taxi fare.

Plenty of walks around and lots to see in the area. In the past I have emailed some good walks, with a couple of leaflets to others. If you click on my name in blue you will get to my home page. There is an envelope there that you can use to send me a message. If you send me your email address I will send the info to you.

In the meantime Google Melisanni cave, Acropolis of Ancient Sami, Assos. All great places to visit.

Congratulations on your forthcoming addition to the family.

Thank you for your informative message! Sadly we won't be there over a weekend (looking at 3rd to 7th April) hopefully that won't make too much difference to experience? We will definitely get a car to explore the island. Is this easy to arrange? Should we pre book? I have looked for this envelope in order to contact you and can't find it! I clicked on your profile and have looked and have asked my boyfriend to look (in case I was being blind) and to no avail! Weird? Is there another way of getting the walking information?! Or maybe you know where I'm going wrong!! Thank you so much for your time!

Tripadvisor private messaging only works from the desktop website. You can't access it from a phone or tablet. Hope that helps!

Always a good idea to prebook.

Have a look at Pefanis. They are a great company and have a full insurance with no excess if you have an accident. They are not bothered about credit cards if you want to pay cash and want no money until you pick up the car. Note the info about the rates being for October so you might pay a bit more.

Incidentally I can access the envelope on my tablet.

I rarely use my desktop and have sent and received literally hundreds of private messages from my tablet.
