Hiking etc. near Windham/Catskill

Hi. We have rented a house near Windham for the July 4th weekend. Although we will stay a fair amount on the grounds, we are also wondering what one would recommend in the area in the way of activities, especially for a day-hike, a swimming hole, or something active of that sort.

I see that the Ashland Pinnacle State Forest, Mt. Psga State Forest, Manorkill State Forest, and Catskill Park are nearby. Is one of those particularly recommended?

Kaaterkill Falls in nearby Haines Falls is a short, rugged but worthwhile hike to the highest tiered waterfall in the state. North South Lake and the trail head that leads to the ruins of the Catskill Mountain House are in that area as well.

There is a great swimming hole in the Catskills (the Blue Hole) but it is about 50 miles away from Windham.
