Safety at night

Is it safe to walk around at night or should we use taxis? Are taxis readily available ?

Hi there,

I was wondering if you can give some advice as to the safest routes to get in and out of Hout Bay? Going in December and unfamiliar with the roads from central Cape Town coming into Hout bay. Any advice welcome.

There are really only two ways.

M62/Kloof Nek road through Camps Bay to Victoria road/M6 along the coast. Going through Sea Point ends up the same via Victoria rd.

M3/M63 past Kirstenbosch and Constantia nek. Similar distance but this goes through more built-up areas so possibly more traffic as it also is near UCT campus.

I personally would prefer Victoria rd.

Cape Town Central...

Safest route? For what risk? None of the 3 possible routes have personal safety risks. Biggest risk is traffic bottlenecks, and for that I would far prefer using M3/M63 past Kirstenbosch and Constantia nek. (Away from coast)
