reno hotels

we are doing an oregon coast trip and possibly heading to reno. I have heard that the Peppermill is a great place to stay however when i read the trip advisor reviews people say smoking is horrible - all public spaces. What would be a second or third choice in that area?

Wow Reno is really far from the Oregon Coast. Is there a reason you are going to Reno?

We figured since we are heading to the bottom of the coast it's not that far away - 10 hrs or so i have been told. My husband has always wanted to see reno - so this might be the time.

I have stayed at the Peppermill many times and never thought the smoke was bad......but maybe I am just smoke tolerant?

The GSR is very large, and with the large gaming area and vast common area is very smoke free I always thought.

I haven't stayed at the Peppermill, but have played there quite a bit. I personally think the casino is one of the better ones around. As for public places, it is Nevada. People smoke everywhere you go especially in any casino, but most people do it outside. It isn't like they are smoking in the hotel hallways and what not.

Remember for one negative review on Tripadvisor, there are probably a thousand people that had positive experiences.

Also, where on the coast will you be?? Yes, it can be quite a hall and there are definitely quicker ways to get to Reno depending on where you cut over. To be honest, 10 hours from the Southern part of Oregon seems to be a little high.

We're doing the Oregon coast to Reno next week. Pepp is the best. Atlantis has mostly high ceilings, if that makes a smoke difference. 2nd best place.

Usually took us 10 hours from central coast, via Eugene/Mt Shasta/Susanville, when we drove non-stop. We stop overnight in Yreka now. GSR is rather boring.

It's a 5-hour drive from Medford, to Reno (non-stop). Brookings to Medford via Hwy 199 is about 2:15. SO. Coast to Reno is probably less than 8 hours if driven straight-through! Good luck!
