Girl's weekend in Stillwater

Three of us (age 40) are coming for a girl's weekend get away to Stillwater. We know there are quaint shops and places to eat...any ideas for something unique and fun that we could do? We want to make some memories! Thanks!

You could drive to Taylors Falls for the day (not a far drive) and rent a canoe or kayaks and go down the river. There are also hiking trails and rock climbing. You could take a paddle boat from Stillwater or Taylors falls. You could also drive to Hudson (a bit of a drive) and rent a pontoon on the river for the day or 4 hours.

I like those ideas. Also, for the adventurous outdoorsy type you could drive over to Willow River State Park in WI. Not far at all (altho I am not sure the status of the river crossing in Stillwater these days given the new bridge construction. Without a bridge crossing there the drive gets a good deal longer).

If you are a wine connoisseur (and I'm not but I like this place) consider a tour (free) of St. Croix Vineyards justa little west on Hwy 36 in Stillwater. Picturesque winery with (get this!) wines I actually like. You dno't mention the dates you'll be in MN but they have some pretty cool events all summer, including Rock the Vine. I went last year. Good food vendors. Beer and wine available. Good music outside in their huge expanse of land. All ages of people there.

For a perfect girls weekend: just add Stillwater! Plenty of things to do right in town. The trolley tour is great, spa's are wonderful, and the riverside pubs are fun at night! Wear comfortable shoes for all of the quaint antique shops you'll be visiting. *The cave tour can be skipped - and if you're visiting anytime soon, the water may be too cold and tumultuous for water activities besides the paddleboat. You're sure to have a great time!

A couple of quick suggestions;

Take a Segway tour of town, Amazon has a deal going right now. (Ends in 2 days)

And there is the gondola river ride, more for couples but......

Horse drawn carriage rides in downtown. Take a cruise on one of the river paddleboats, rent a kayak and do the river on your own. Take a cooking class together while in town. Go to one of the local spas and be pampered for the day. Take a tour of one of the local micro breweries, or the distillery. (Or a vineyard, as previously mentioned).

While a drive to Hudson, is not a bad idea, (it's only 15-20 mins. away, closer then St. Paul is). You don't have to go there to rent a boat, you can rent them in Stillwater too.

The Stillwater Liftbridge is still in full operation, just the normal super busy times on weekdays at rush hr. and weekends it gets pretty busy whenever the weather is nice.

Also check the Stillwater website for other ideas;

Another city link is;

5 times a year, Stillwater has Ladies night out, don't know when you are coming, but check this link to see if it works with your trip.
