U.S. News & World Reports recently did a hotel ranking for all 50 states.
The restored West Baden Springs Hotel is #1 and that it's "sister" (French Lick Resort) resort came in at #7. That's two of the top ten in a *very* small town(s) in southern Indiana - pretty impressive.
I often tell people that the hotels are worth checking out if they're going to be in the area - even if they don't stay the night. Guess I'm not the only one to think they are both impressive.
While I generally take these sort of rankings with a grain of salt, I don't think they're worthless and in this case got at least something right. Here's a link to the entire list:
