What's your definition of best? Luxurious ride? Speed? Cost?

There's a whole sticky on the right about transport from the airports to downtown hotels.

Hi there are four of us with luggage so we are open to all suggestions. We are not after luxury just the cheapest to the middle of the road. Thanks

Minivan taxi. They'll be lined up outside of baggage claim.

Hi we are concerned about taxis because we are arriving on the Friday night of the Chicago marathon. Do you know what is the approx, cost of a minivan to the hotel. Thanks

Cab fare should be around $55-$60 - depending on traffic. Minivan taxi rates are the same as standard taxi rates. The marathon will not affect cab availability at ORD on a Friday night. If you don't see a minivan cab in line - as the cab starter to request one for you.

we live downtown Chicago and we always take the El; it is not only cheaper, it is a lot faster.

Again, take a look through the sticky note. The blue line is definitely cheaper. But it means lugging your bags around, up and down staircases and escalators. If you're arriving Friday during rush hour up until probably around 7, the blue line will be faster. After 7, it depends on traffic. If you go at off hours, it's 30-45 minutes driving and an hour to 1:15 for the train when you factor in walking to the station, buying the tickets, waiting, etc The Ritz is not on the blue line so when you get downtown, you have to transfer to the red, which means more waiting and more lugging your bags through stations, or you have to go out to the street and catch a cab for the last mile. Or walk the last mile along Michigan Avenue

I'd take a taxi if you have any sort of luggage. You can walk outside baggage claim. The cab line is right there. They'll get a minivan taxi for you with no problem.

Agree with Wes. If you were arriving at the domestic terminals with minimal luggage - train is best.

In your particular situation - not so. Going from T5 to the train station is a hassle. In the time it takes to get to the train station, you'll be halfway downtown in a taxi.

Stick to a taxi.

Does the Ritz have it's own limo to come and get you?
