Nothing is X rated there. Has he looked at the website? I'd let him pick.
We really can't choose for you. Have your son do some research and then discuss his choices with him and research them yourself.
Really just looking for someone who might be able to say, "I saw X, and it was great." Or, "I saw Y, and it was way better than X." I have looked at their website, and there's not enough information that would allow for anything other than an arbitrary selection.

Second City has profanity, and some gross-out humor, but traditionally it is based on observational and political humor. Whether it's appropriate for your 14 year old is your call. I remember taking my kids and their cousins who were 13-20 years old, and feeling like I wanted to cover the ears of the 13 year old at times.
If you want a recommendation for a family-friendly show, go to the Magic Parlour at the Palmer House. It's an intimate, impressive show by a very talented magician who has been on Penn and Teller's "Fool Us." You can often get discount tickets at www.hottix.orgEdited: 15 May 2018, 01:51
Great, thank you!
I saw the Mainstage review (Dream Freaks Fall From Space) and would agree portions are not appropriate for a younger teen. Maybe 90% of the show is OK, but that other 10% is very blue.
Second City's website rates the "Best of" as "R" so if you are committed to going to Second City that might be the best option...
Blue Man Group at the Briar Street Theater is another family friendly and very enjoyable show (seen it twice in its loooong run here).
Good info, thank you!
