Cubs game/Downtown hotel suggestions

We are coming July 19th - 22nd and would like to stay downtown and ride the Redline Train in for a couple of games. Suggestions on hotels please.... And any suggestions on getting tickets? We will need 4. THANK YOU!

That weekend is the Cubs/Cards series so tickets are going to be very expensive as the Cubs flex the prices and put series in the summer against division rivals at the highest level. Plus IIRC the Cardinals didn't have any weekend series in Chicago last summer so a number of fans will be making the trip up from St. Louis.

Tickets are available directly on the Cubs website and not surprisingly the cheapest seats (upper deck outfield) are like $65 a seat. Anything decent between the bases are in the low $100's. You can also purchase them for resale on stubhub.com as they are an official partner of the Cubs.

There are tons of threads and stickies here about hotels: just scroll down or do a search.

Go to Google Maps, search on the "Grand" red line station and search for nearby hotels. Most River North hotels are in the $230 to $280 range a night which is pretty much normal for a summer weekend. But I wouldn't wait as it appears that about 20% are sold out. From the area you can take the Red Line EL directly to the Addison station. The trains will be packed with fans going to the game and it will be fun.

Numerous hotels downtown are within walking distance of a red line train station. Start with www.booking.com or your favorite hotel site for availability within your budget.

The Cubs site or StubHub are the only sites to consider for tickets.

My mind is blown. Tickets to the Saturday 7/21 Cubs Cards evening game for the bleacher are $150 in total directly from the Cubs website. Not resold, but $124 face value plus fees.

Hotwire has availability downtown for your dates below $200. Also consider Priceline Express Deals and Travelzoo.

Hopefully you already have your cubs tickets. Any hotel downtown with access to the State Street Subway (The Red Line) will work. That would encompass about 75% of the hotels in Chicago from a Best Western to the Peninsula and Waldorf Astoria.

Tickets must sky rocket during the warmer months, I was there last month and got two Cubs tickets at $14 each (minus the fees and taxes). Do most of the summer games sell out and triple in price?

IIRC the Cubs have like 6 tiers for their tickets. From bottom to top:

-bronze

-silver

-gold

-platinum

-premiere

-diamond

I think that Cardinals series in July is on the premiere and diamond level. That's why bleacher seats are at $150 for the Saturday game.

No need to be rude, where I am from that's not how it works. But thanks.
