St. Simons stay--Home2Suites or Holiday Inn Express????

Since our budget doesn't allow a beachfront stay, is there much difference in these two properties with regard to walkable dining, bike rental, and convenience to sites? This will be our first time on St. Simon's so not familiar with the area. We are fine driving during the day and hope to either bike or kayak while there but walk to a restaurant/bar at night. Thanks for your insights!

We always stay at Hampton Inn . Holiday Inn is off Demere and near a shopping area and restaurants.

Home2Suites is new and closer to the airport.

St Simons has an extensive well maintained network of bike trails separate from the roads.

Our main concern is being near restaurants via a walk, versus a car ride. Is the Hampton, Holiday Inn or Home2Suites near local restaurants/bars and do any of them provide bike rentals? Thank you.

Hampton inn you can easily walk to a number of restaurants in Winn Dixie shopping center, Redfern Village, etc.

But you will have to drive or bike down to the village area where all the other restaurants are located. It is about 2.5 miles.

HI Express is definitely more isolated and further from restaurant options. As PeachBelle noted, the Hampton Inn is right at the intersection of Demere and Frederica Roads and there are a number of chain (Outback) and local restaurants (Southern Soul, Navarro's, etc.) within easy walking distance.

The newly opened Home2Suites is about 1/2 mile east of that same intersection so a little bit further walk and you are adjacent to the general aviation airport and hangars/taxiways.

We just returned from a short stay at Home2Hilton. It was very, very nice. The rooms are nice and new. We had a full size fridge, sink, microwave & dishwasher. It was nice to bring dinner leftovers back and put in the fridge for later. Also, getting some groceries for snacks helped cut down expenses. The pool is saltwater and nice. Not very big, but has a nice shallow ledge with lounge chairs in it. The airport is right there, but there is no airport noise. It is also a small hotel, so no crowds or long walks to get anywhere. I recommend it!
