Help needed to plan a trip to cumberland island!

Hi I and my husband are planning a trip to the cumberland island and the surrounding area this coming weekend. I am not sure if there are any tourist places that need prior bookings.

1) We will be travelling from Atlanta, GA. Which would be the best place to stay?

2) What all islands. places should be visit given that we'll have around

approximately 3.5 days?

3) Any suggestions or tips?

Do you have reservations for the Cumberland Island ferry? If not, get them right away.

Amelia Island (just south of Cumberland) would make a nice addition, especially the fort at the state park there.

Cumberland Island Inn & Suites, a few miles from the ferry, is a convenient moderately priced motel. Another even lower priced option is the Kingsbay Inn (not sure that's the exact name--I'll look it up if you're interested).

If you're interested in an assorted variety of nuts, stop at We're Nuts (exit 107 or 109?) off of I-75.

Cumberland Island Inn and Suites is a nice place. We stayed there a week ago and it was very reasonable and close to everything.

If there are no stores on island and don't want to eat in hotels and/or restaurants, what do you do for food or drinks?

There is only one B&B on CI. You cannot purchase food from them. You have to bring all of your food and drinks. There is drinkable water on island but not the best tasting.

There is nothing like what you want on Cumberland Island. Only camping. It would be better to post on the St. Simons Island or Tybee Island forums. Having said that, April can be early for beach and pool here. You may want to go further south to Amelia Island in Florida.
