Cumberland Access & Alternatives

I was scheduled to camp on Cumberland with my daughter next week but due to the hurricane damage, our reservations were cancelled. We are flying into Savannah for what was going to be my daughter's dream trip.

1. Is there any way to access Cumberland Island right now?

2. I cannot find anything that makes up for camping on CUmberland. If you have any recommendations for camping and/or inexpensive rentals on the Georgia Coast, I would apprecaite it!!

The only way to access Cumberland currently is through The Greyfield, they are accepting reservations but they are not inexpensive. If your daughter really wants to see Cumberland, they may allow you to reserve a day trip, it usually runs $120.pp for trip. Rooms average $450 nightly. You would have to call and inquire to them directly.

Jekyll is close and they do offer camping. I am unsure if you can camp on Daufuskie.

Irma took out a lot of the Live Oaks, I live on Amelia and we are still cleaning up. I hope you and your daughter enjoy the time even though you will not be able to camp on Cumberland.

Crooked River State Park might be an option but please look at the web page notes about certain areas. Friends of ours have stayed there and loved it.

Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach is very nice.

The closest to Cumberland I can think of is Sapelo.

I do like Jekyll and have camped there, but it's not like Cumberland camping.

Definitely not camping, but I want to stay in the birdhouses -

I also want to stay at the Greyfield Inn on Cumberland sometime too, but that's very pricey!
