The ones near the forum are not cheap: Westin Harbor Island, Marriott Waterside, Embassy Suites Convention Center are all within a stone's throw of the Forum.

Further away but still fairly close there's a Sheraton Riverwalk, Howard Johnson Plaza, Fairfield Inn

Search for downtown Tampa hotels on google and see if you find a suitable one.

If in your budget I would do the Howard Johnson.

You can also try bidding on priceline for a downtown hotel.

That happens when there's something going on at the Forum. Is there a game on?

If you have a car, Google hotels Rocky Point Tampa and try some of those. It will take about 15 to 20 min to drive to the Forum from there. And these hotels overlook Tampa Bay.

Have you tried any of the Ybor City hotels? You could take the trolley to the Forum.

Oh yes, the GOP ... that is a huge one for Tampa ... everywhere nearby will have been booked well in advance. You might have to try out in the Brandon area, which really isn't too far - again about a 15 to 20 min drive to the forum.

There are several hotels at the I-75/hwy 60 junction: Embassy Suites, Homewood Suites, Fairfield Inn, Country Inn & Suites, Springhill Suites, La Quinta, Homestead Suites, Marriott Courtyard, Holiday Inn Express, Red Roof, Hampton, Days Inn, and a Best Western further west on hwy 60 near the junction of hwy 301.

There is also a huge mall at the SE junction of those roads and another large strip mall on the NE junction - plenty to do around there if you get into one of those hotels.

I think you're realistically looking at a 15-25 mile commute - from Zephyhills, Seffner, Wesley Chapel, etc.
