red tide update in Nov 2018?

Can anyone update me on how the red tide is currently in Naples (early Nov)? We will be staying in a resort about 4 miles inland and will only swim in resort pool. Is there much smell or cough? can you walk on the beaches? Appreciate any help!

Go to www.myfwc.com for daily updated status of any red tide in the state of Florida.

I was on Bonita Beach last week.....the water was a delightful 82 degrees and I did not see any dead fish. I also walked on the beach every day & did not have any respiratory problems at all.

It’s wise to keep a check on the situation, especially if you or anyone in your group is at all compromised.

We were at Naples Pier a couple of days ago and it was fine. We have had problems in the past with the effects of red tide at the beach, but these subsided once we moved inland.

Collier County Pollution Control which covers the Naples area gave the following update Saturday 10th November:

Current conditions: No dead fish or respiratory irritation have been reported.

Forecast: Although red tide is not present at the beaches, red tide is present offshore and to our north. Winds will be variable through Tuesday, November 13th. Red tide impacts are possible anytime winds are blowing onshore. Therefore, people with chronic respiratory illnesses such as asthma or emphysema should avoid going to the beach as these illnesses may be aggravated.

There is no red tide anymore. It is totally gone and won't be coming back till the spring/summer.

You need to basically check daily. Here is a good link:https://www.colliercountyfl.gov/your-government/divisions-f-r/pollution-control/red-tide/current-red-tide-status/collier-county-red-tide-status

The past 3 days had red tide present which is not unusual for November. Always check ahead because depending on wind and tides the ocean changes.

Definitely keep updated. We are beachside in Naples and it is very unpleasant. Coughing, sneezing and itchy eyes. Strong odour, too. We have not been to the beach or spent any time outdoors in two days. IMO, you would not want to walk or swim at the beach when red tide is at what iCollier County calls a “ medium” level, our current status. . Hopeful that conditions improve in the near future.

Check Naples News feed.

Currently in Naples, dead fish & dolphins washed up on beach.

Believe County awaiting test results to confirm cause.

Very sad
