Which is the best area to stay in Miami for 3-4 days.

And what are the things we can do while in Miami?

Wow. I can tell you that 80-100 is going to be really tight for a hotel stay in the South Beachor even the Aventura area with that. You must remember mid-October thru mid-May is our "season" so prices tend to be higher during that time. You might really have to search a bit. (Fort Lauderdale might be slightly cheaper.)

That being said, whether or not you rent a car will help decide things as well. If you decide/find a place in South Beach, renting a car has its good and bad points. Yes, it allows you more freedom. However, parking prices in South Beach are high (not including valet service, just to pull into a garage/lot once is a charge sometimes), plus finding parking can be an adventure. The further away from the beach you go the easier parking is. Taxi service and buses/shuttles are available and relatively inexpensive.

Regardless, some things you might want to check out....

1. Lincoln Road - Food, people watching, bars/lounges

2. Bal Harbor Shoppes/Aventura Mall - classy shopping malls

3. Las Olas Boulevard - chic shops, nice restaurants/bars/lounges

4. Fort Lauderdale or South Beach - obvious reasons (water sports can be found here too)

5. Coconut Grove - a little bit of everything

Really depends on what you want. South Beach is gorgeous. The beach itself is very nice and wide. Lots of people watching. Plus you have the old-fashion,deco hotels next to the beach.

If you travel further north you can hit Hollywood Beach if you want a more laid back atmosphere. Lots of casual dining along the Boardwalk there as well as the ability to rent a bike (multi-person ones available as well).

Fort Lauderdale Beach is a mixture of Hollywood Beach and South Beach. Not quite as laid back as Hollywood, but not as chic as South Beach. Good restaurants and bars across the street from the beach as well.
