Manatee swim / float

We shall be in Crystal River towards the end of September. When will be the best time to swim / float with the manatees as we have seen a number of operators with times ranging from 06:15 to 10:00 a.m.?

Also is there much to choose between the operators - any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks - Carrie

Really depends on your schedule. The manatees are there all day everyday.

For the most part there is little difference between operators so pick one with a time you want and enjoy the day.

The best time to swim with manatees is in the early morning when they are still in the warmer spring waters. Depending on the temps over night during that time of year (when it is often still warm) they travel back to the ocean during the day time hours to feed. If the temps are cool they stay in the springs in the bay. It can be tough to get up early but it is well worth it to have a special encounter with the manatees.
