Lodge at Lionshead versus Manor Vail - Question

We are looking for a hotel near the center of things but still with a feeling of being in the woods and outdoors. Also want something close to playgrounds for my kids. Both these properties seem to fit the bill. Anyone have any thoughts on relative benefits of one versus another? Modestly prefer Manor Vail's location near the big playground and ball fields, but Lodge at Lionshead looks nice, too, with its location on the stream and on the bike path. Also - is most of the heavy construction at Lionshead finished? Was there two years ago and it was a nightmare. Thanks.

What time of year are you coming? The properties are pretty similar in terms of quality (both have had major renovations). If music is important, Manor Vail might be a better option due to access to the Ford Ampitheatre for Bravo concerts, etc. Otherwise, the Lodge at Lionshead might be better due to easy access to the Gondola to ride up Vail Mountain to Adventure Ridge.

Check Vail.com or VisitVailValley.com for complete property details from a "neutral" site. And regardless of where you stay be sure to check out www.vailallthelove.com for activity and dining discounts.

I am torn on the same options. Did you decide and pick one? We plan to go in early August with our 3 kids. Please let me know what you decided and the rates. Thanks!

Decided to go with Manor Vail. Location near playground won out. Got a rate for a two bedroom that averages out to about $200/night for a nine night stay, including tax and free breakfast for four. Will be staying next month.

Just another vote for Manor Vail for location including easy walking distance to Vail Village, which I feel is a lot more enjoyable than being in Lionshead.
