Silverton train

Can anyone please advise if there are any other train rides around Silverton other than the Durango to Silverton train. I'd previously heard about a train trip which includes a gold mine tour. With thanks.

Certainly not around Durango, but the Georgetown Loop Railway has an intermediate stop with a mine tour. http://georgetownlooprr.com/

Georgetown is about 40 minutes west of Denver on Interstate 70.

Perhaps someone else knows of another train with a gold mine tour.

It's not near Durango, but another similar line is Cumbres and Toltec:

Perhaps you are referring to the Mining Tour package with the Durango-Silverton Train? The tour of the Old Hundred Gold Mine begins with a short electric mine train 1600 ft into the mountain. After touring the mine and the museum in Silverton, take the train from Silverton to Durango.

It is a great tour.

Thanks guys. You are right, train not running at this shoulder time of the season, but had a great time exploring the ghost town in the snow, and participating in the fantastic hospitality of this town.
