Is there a reason you’ve posted in the Lakewood forum? Lakewood is a suberb of Denver and not in southwest Colorado.

Please read this and provide more info: https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g28927…

You've posted in the Lakewood forum, which is a suburb of Denver and nowhere close to SW Colorado. Have a look at this post and then give us a few clues about your trip:

I've been to SW Colorado several times and am headed back there in July. We're planning to go to Mesa Verde, the Durango & Silverton train, jeeps in Ouray, multiple hot springs here and there, Colorado National Monument and more than a little beer drinking and campfire watching. What do you have in mind?

May I suggest that you take a look at some awesome online tourism guides. One is the new CO Field Guide. It takes into account your interests, budget, days of travel, etc. and will help build an itinerary. https://www.colorado.com/colorado-field-guide

Another one is the state's tourism official web page - https://www.colorado.com/

Here's a map that defines SW CO - http://www.swcolotravel.org/ It really should contain Mesa Country, imho.

Thanks. I didn't mean to post on that particular site. This is the first time I have asked for advice on TripAdvisor. My husband and I plan to fly into Denver to visit family, then take a 5-6 day excursion on our own. We'd like to visit Mesa Verde and surrounding area. We are active older adults.

I understand the reason behind that now. Just wanted to be confident that you didn't think Lakewood was in a different part of the state than it is - that would have bee a tough situation to find yourself in if you had booked lodging. Hope your time with family there is good.
