Breckenridge Rentals for Gear / Equipment

Going to Breck in exactly 2 weeks. Group of 4, all adults, and beginners. No one has skied or snowboarded before so no experience and will be on the slopes on Nov 30th for the whole day. Anyone have any recommendations for cheap/value equipment rentals? We will probably be skiing so we will need boots, skis and bindings. Am I missing anything else?

Thanks!

Rent at the resort. Especially if you're a beginner. If something isn't comfortable, you won't know until you've been using your gear. Much easier to run into the shop near ski school than to waste your vacation wandering around town swapping out gear. With 4 people in your group, it's a near certainty someone will need to return to the rental shop.

We like Charter Sports. You can get fitted for everything the afternoon before. You also need helmets and goggles.

You can save money renting away from the resort, but as mentioned above being at the resort gives you help if something doesn't work or fit right. As a beginner this is important because you may not know how things should feel. If your boot becomes uncomfortable for example you can deal with it if its close.

There will be multiple shops around the base with similar prices. If you can get your equipment the day you arrive so you are not in the morning rush. Will make it easier and less stressful.

A first timer may not need googles unless its snowing... just wear sunglasses.

When you say "the whole day," are you only planning to ski/board one day? If that's the case, I personally wouldn't bother. Unless you're planning to give either sport AT LEAST two days to learn, there's not much point. Activities like a snowshoe tour would be much more enjoyable and take only a few minutes to learn.

If you are planning to spend a few days learning to ski/board, then another advantage of renting from a shop in the base area (in addition to a lift, lesson, rentals package and convenience of help if something doesn't fit right), is that you can return the gear each night and have your boots dried rather than lugging everything around each day. For a beginner, I would recommend keeping things as simple as possible.
