Hiring a car yourselves would probably be easiest. Though price put Uber too as we heard of folks transferring to Hollywood from Anaheim with great rates. But you have to gamble if someone will be willing to go that route.

Three words Rent a car and good luck on the long drive. Should take you an hour without traffic each way

When is this trip? Six Flaggs is only open on the weekends certain times of the year. Just be sure they're open during the week when you want to go.

Good luck on transportation from Anaheim.

When you say "We are staying...", do you mean NOW? If not, be aware that Six Flags Magic Mountain is open only on weekends starting 9 Jan.

If you don't wish to hire a car (the best option), you can take a train. Amtrak.com has service as does metrolinktrains.com. Both companies have trains that stop at Fullerton Station (most probably, your best option if you're staying in Anaheim) and at Anaheim Station.

On Metrolink, the routing is as follows:

Starting at FULLERTON METROLINK

Ride Metrolink Orange County Line Train [marked 'UNION STATION'] heading west

From: FULLERTON STATION/120 E SANTA FE AV Lv: 07:41AM

To: UNION STATION/800 N ALAMEDA ST Ar: 08:20AM

Pay $12.75 *METROLINK tickets must be purchased BEFORE boarding * *The $2 Station-to-Station fare does not include free connections to Metro Rail, however, local bus connections (including Metro Bus) are free. There is no TAP compatibility with this ticket stock., Monthly Pass: $357.00

Ride Metrolink Antelope Valley Line [LANCASTER] heading north

From: UNION STATION/800 N ALAMEDA ST Lv: 08:25AM

To: NEWHALL STATION/24300 RAILROAD AV Ar: 09:10AM

From the Newhall Station, the only practical transfer option is to take a taxi -- a ride of about 15 minutes at a cost of about $25 including tip (each way). This will get you to Magic Mountain at around 9:30. Unfortunately, the Park doesn't open until 10:30!!

If you choose Amtrak, there is no rail service between Union Station and Newhall at the time you'll need.

The last option is to take a metrolink train to Union Station (as above), and then transfer to local public transit as follows:

Starting at UNION STATION

Ride Santa Clarita #794 Bus [marked 'VALENCIA INDUSTRIAL CENTER]' heading north

From: PATSAOURAS PLAZA (the bus plaza behind -- to the east -- of Union Staton/the bus departs from parking space #3) Lv: 09:00AM

To: VALENCIA BLVD/ROCKWELL CANYON RD SW corner Ar: 09:49AM

Pay $4.50.

Transfer to Santa Clarita Bus #7 [marked 'MAGIC MOUNTAIN'] heading west

From: VALENCIA BLVD/ROCKWELL CANYON RD NW corner Lv: 10:04AM

To: MAGIC MOUNTAIN PKWY/MAGIC MOUNTAIN Ar: 10:13AM

Pay $1.00.

Ending at MAGIC MOUNTAIN

Total fare = $5.50

Trip time is about 1 hour and 13 minutes (plus the transfer time from Fulleron to Union Station), All told, you'll depart from Fullerton Station at 7:41 (after a taxi ride of, say, 10 minutes from your hotel) -- let's call the departure time 7:30 -- and you'll arrive at Magic Mountain at 10:13 -- just a little less than 2-1/2 hours later, after taking a taxi, a train, and 2 buses!

The entire cost of the transfer will be ($10 per person plus the cost of the taxi -- each way -- so a total of about $35 each way). Actually, the return routing might be a little different and might cost a little bit more or less. So, compare a 2-1/2 hour transfer with a drive that will probably take 75 to 90 minutes (during 'rush hour') at a cost of $15 for parking (I think) + the car hire and the petrol. The drive is really simple: take the 5 freeway (motorway) north and get off at the Magic Mountain Parkway exit.

Your choice.

Or do something else with your time. The city of LOS ANGELES has HUNDREDS OF ATTRACTIONS (and none of them are theme parks).

Check the Six Flags Magic Mountain's website. https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain

It has information on days and park hours. Also directions on using public transit from LA.

Anaheim/Disneyland to Magic Mountain is 62 miles or 100km. Hollywood-Six Flags is less than half of that.

In April Six Flags is open daily. And there is a Daily Tour during that time that would take you from Anaheim to Six Flags through Starline Tours. But it looks like they only offer the ticket with Tour and no longer offer just transport only.

http://www.starlinetours.com/anaheim-tours.aspd

However, you may want to consider the renting the Car option and getting discount tickets which will allow you much more time within the Park than a tour would offer which would only likely give you about 7 hours at Six Flags. While actual Hours at Six Flags are 10:30 am till 8:30pm in April. And it would likely be less expensive than a Tour. The info on the Starline Website is including transport time in their "10 hours".

Usually the best deals on tickets for Six Flags are on their own website if you pre-purchase them ahead of time. And for discounts on attractions you can look at the Mousesavers website which is a helpful resource that lists current reliable discounts on attractions ( they dont sell tickets). But you are too early likely to see discounts show up yet for 2016 time frame. You may have to wait till 2016 to see those show up.

http://www.mousesavers.com/california-discounts-deals/

Keep in mind from Anaheim, you are looking at about a 90 min drive to Six Flags.

You can also expect heavier crowds in mid March through mid April when there are various events and School Holidays making Six Flags busy.

When was your visit for in April?
