Would appreciate some advice on the Aqua Caliente

How would you rate the casino as a place to stay for three nights? Are the rooms, buffets & restaurants decent? What about a swimming pool area? Any night life such as dancing or big name entertainment? Any info appreciated!

The Casino is way out of town by the interstate highway. I've been there for the prime rib buffet a couple of times (not bad) and wandered through the gambling hall and won some fast cash, then got away without giving it back.

I prefer to stay in town, closer to shops, restaurants, activities, nightlife etc. I'd never want to stay way out at AC.

I would not want to stay there for three nights. We've gone there for the buffet and tried the casino, but it's quite isolated from any of the desert hubs. It would also be ok if you were passing through and wanted to stay close to the 1o Freeway for a night.

Not for three nights....depending when you go, it can be SO windy, along the freeway....you can't even sit at the pool...

Stayed at the Hotel over Xmas for 5 nights wanted to be sure we would find somewhere to eat over xmas because I was not sure what else would be available in the Palm Springs area. The hotel is excellent the standard rooms are very big 550 square feet and are well equipped with 42in tv in the bedroom and a tv in the bathroom which has a massive shower and bath. These rooms are some of the best that I have stayed in and we are widely travelled. The food in the cafe for breakfast is excellent and is reasonably priced and we also had the buffet on 2 nights which was also good. The pool area is lovely and we were able to enjoy it over the holiday period. The only downside is that the hotel is away out of the way and you will need a car or you will be stuck ,a taxi into palm springs I think cost us 30 dollars. If you like to have a gamble the casino is good although there is no roulette it is not allowed in the California casinos. I would definately stay here again for a couple of nights and would definately recommend it.

I was thinking of stopping at Caliente over the last wknd in feb...just to hang out at the pool, do a little gambling and maybe a side trip into PS for dinner, shopping or whatever.

Now I'm concerned now that pool time might not be so great given the wind. Is it that bad? If so, any suggestions for other places (boutique hotesl or something w/ a contemporary design) that has a really good pool (and minimal kids)?

Thx!

When we were there ( just to look ) we couldnt even open the doors out to the pool. There is no way to know if its going to be windy or not. But when it is, the Interstate is the worst place to be, and thats where the hotel is.

Thanks. Think I'm going to have to look elsewhere now.
