Road conditions and accomdation.

We will be travelling from Kang to Maun via the A2 and A3 and do a flight over the Okavango delta the next day. Then we will travel back on the A3 to Sehithwa and to Drosky's Cabin close to Shakawe to cross the border na Namibia the next day. Is is possible to do it with a Ranger 2x4 and can you guys please advise on good accomodation in Maun or close by? This will be in December 2018. Tx

On our recent safari, our guide who does that route to Shakawe to visit family, told me it is very pot holed. If you want to visit Mahango NP on that route north, you can do it in a 2 wd there is a 2 wd eastern track around the park. Good accommodation is somewhat subjective, we stayed at the Kraal Lodging, nice accommodation overlooking the Thamakalani river but self cater.

The road from Kang - Ghanzi-Maun is fine, just be careful of cattle etc, Shithwa to Shakawe is full of potholes but just drive slowly.

We are going on Honeymoon in May 2018 with our Bushlapa trailer and will be visiting Moremi. This is our first trip and experience is limited. Do we have to book in advance to fly over the Okavango Delta.

Will becoming from Eastern Botswana side, entering at Maun. Still need to figure out our route from there, what to do, and how to do it.

KooiBotha, congratulations on your honeymoon! There are many charter companies in Maun (most of them situated right at or across the road from the airport - you can pop in to any one of them when you are in Maun to arrange a scenic flight over the Delta. May even be better to leave it until you get here, as others may have booked flights and if you can get onto one of those to share, then the cost may go down. Happy travels.
