Dominical is close enough to Manuel Antonio Park for a day trip and white water rafting. Go south for an hour or so and you have zip lining and different things at OSA Canopy Tour. You can go out to Cano island for snorkeling and you can relax and some of the least crowded beaches in Costa Rica with many different eating experiences in town. Also you always have a travel day to and from your location.
I’d also take a daytrip horseback to Nauyaca Falls, take a morning guided hike in the rainforest at Hacienda Baru and an ATV tour to Diamente Falls. Ideally you’d also work in a couple of days surfing as Dominical is a prime surfing destination or check out beaches inside Marino Ballena National Park including the Whale’s Tail at low tide.
As of now we would basically have 2 full days in Arenal and 1 1/2 days in Monteverde. Plan in Dominical would result in 5 full days once factoring in arrival and departure. Couldn’t figure out whether you were being sarcastic about too many days relaxing.
Thought with 5 days we could do Manuel Antonio, wildlife sanctuary, Waterfalls, beach, zip line or rafting if we don’t do that in Arenal or Monteverde.
From experience, where is best place to zip line And raft?
6 (or 5) days is not too long!
Dominical area is wonderful. I was just there 2 weeks ago for 7 days and we wished we had longer.
The best beach is Playa Hermosa. Safe, free, lifeguarded and beautiful. Buy a fresh coconut water to sip on.
Dominical also has a nice stretch of beach if you go down to the left past the rocky area.
Take a beginner surf lesson at Costa Rica Surf Camp in Dominical. Also in Dominical, eat at Fuego Brewery (try the pineapple coconut kombucha on tap) and eat at Cafe Mono Congo. Shop at the daily market set up along the road parallel to the water too.
Go to one of the roadside stands on Costarena road for the best fresh ceviche.
DEFINITELY book a tour with Rancho Diandrew in Uvita. You will not regret it. Go look it up... right now. It's incredible.
Venture up to the Jolly Roger and get their pizza and wings (60 sauce options). Wednesday night is live music. Also find the waiter Jody. He runs several tours including river rafting, ATVs, surfing, exploring, etc.
For a moderate, family friendly, zipline tour head over to Hacienda Baru.
You can also go up to the Manual Antonio National Park (closed Mondays) and hire a guide for a small fee to point out incredible wildlife that you would never find on your own. Go early in the day before it gets too hot.
Hope this helps with planning!Edited: 02 February 2018, 16:12
My friend raves about Playa Hermosa . His family always go there when they go to that beach. They live down there and they say it's the nicest and safest. I was 8 nights in December and regret did not get a chance to go.
Rafting in Dominical area is great. We did the Guabo river that was amazing not just for the thrill of the rafting but the beautful area around.
