VAT exemption for hotel booking

Trying to book a hotel in Buenos Aires on SPG but found the 21% VAT added to the price. How can I get a refund of it or an exemption?

I would try calling them. See what they say. If any trouble go elsewhere. Plenty of hotels in BA.

Does it mean that I can’t book on line if I want to be exempted from VAT?

When I was there last spring I really had to be vocal over VAT at hotels. They were nice hotels too. I think some of the hotels are pocketing the money if you do not speak up (do the paperwork later, after all they do have a copy of your passport). Why take a chance when the online booking charges you the tax - they then have paperwork that says you agreeded to th charge. Call, and if you do not like their answer stay somewhere else. I also would get a confirming emai from the hotel.
