Moving To Umhlanga From The UK

Hi all - I am moving to Umlhanga next week, i wondered if any of you could help me with a few om my queries??

1) I am staying at the Urban Park hotel - what is it like, whats it near to??

2) I do not drive - failed my test in the UK last week and may not be able to book a retest prior to leaving. How difficult is it to get about without a car? How safe is it? How difficult is it to learn in SA?

Many thanks,

Phil

Urban Park hotel is actually a set of self catering apartments.

Its about 1.5 km away from a major shopping mall.... Gateway.

Its 3 km in a straight line from the sea shore.

Its about 18 km by road from King Shaka International airport.

Its about 18 Km by the most direct route, from Ushaka marine world

About 17 Km by the most direct route to Durban's "Golden Mile" beachfront area.

Its about 26 Km by the FASTEST route from the middle of down town Durban.

Getting around without a car, anywhere in South Africa is a major hassle.

Safety is not an issue, as long as a little common sense is exercised.... same as you would in any unfamiliar city in the UK, or Europe.

Passing a driving test is probably easier than in the UK ( open to correction), but getting an appointment for the learner's licence, and then later for the final test, is a NIGHTMARE

How do I get fom Umhlanga to Durban or more specifically to Overport by public transport? I understand it won't be a direct route. I do not drive.
