you'll die b/c of the heat/humidity

Dear All,

we are soon (mid June) supposed to travel to PV and later go to Panama. A total of 5 weeks. We are a family of 4 (2 kids). We will have no AC where we are staying. Several of my friends are telling me that it will be unbearably hot, humid, miserable and we will get eaten by mosquitos. As I look at current weather and weather forecast it's in the upper 80's which does not sound too tragic. I am beginning to worry as the departure date gets closer and wonder whether we should change itinerary. What do you say? Thanks

I have seen Scarlet Macaws in the last couple years in Uvita and Dominical area. As Hattie sais, they fly and re-introduction programs across the coast have changed things a lot. Scarlet Macaws in the Uvita area only 5 years ago were not heard of... If they are in Uvita, they will be in Dominical and Manuel Antonio.

There has been a dramatic increase in nesting pairs all up and down the central Pacific. The Carara area has a thriving community of Macaws. I remember when I first moved to CR they were rare, over the years this vastly improved and you can see them almost daily flying out in the mornings and back in the afternoon. Look for Almond trees, this is a favorite snack and they cannot get enough of them. If you find an Almond tree full of nuts, there are Scarlet Macaws not far behind.

Go on youtube and listen to the calls they make, they are loud. Learn the Macaw and the Toucan, both distinct and the easiest way to spot them.
